Back on Track?

We have been just barely staying afloat these days as far as school is concerned.

Kalene has one more week of volleyball and then we can resume some sort of normalcy around here once again.

The kids have been pretty great I must say. Mostly keeping up with the core subjects such as math, science, reading.

I haven't been as diligent as they have when it comes to keeping up with school.

I admit, I have a stack of papers to go through at least a foot high taking over the surface of my desk. And I haven't taught history to Richie in such a long time, that I don't remember when.

So I am determined to take this week to get all caught up. This way, when volleyball ends we will be able to start anew fresh.

This is what I love about homeschooling. We make the rules, and we are never really behind. We'll spend some extra time during the colder months really encountering history.

I think that for me it is really important to take some time every couple of months to evaluate where we are and where we need to go, that way I don't get so far off track that I can't find my way back again.

That's definitely something I need to do - evaluate where we need to go. I even downloaded some forms when they were free just to have a specific place to write goals, classes, materials used. I need this because I keep finding interesting sites, books, and videos to add to my son's day - of course there's no time for that! The problem is constantly cropping up; which do I prefer? That he gets credits or that he learns useful information and how to learn?
