I think it is so very important in these crazy economic times that we do all that we possibly can to get out of any of the debt that we may have acquired over the years.
Now I understand that sometimes it is necessary to acquire debt such as an unplanned emergency like a hospital trip. Also most people can not afford to pay cash in full for a home to live in.
Those are some of the instances where I think that accumulating debt is excusable. But if we just really want that huge TV and do not have the money for it. Then I would have to say oh well. That to me is not an excusable reason for gaining debt.
I think that what we saw happen with the financial markets over the last month should be a rude awakening to us who have chosen to live off of credit. Credit should never rule our lives.
I remember what it feels like to be so far in debt that it feels like you could never possibly get out of the hole you have dug. But with services like freedom debt management it is possible to get rid of the weight that debt puts on you.

Back on Track?
We have been just barely staying afloat these days as far as school is concerned.
Kalene has one more week of volleyball and then we can resume some sort of normalcy around here once again.
The kids have been pretty great I must say. Mostly keeping up with the core subjects such as math, science, reading.
I haven't been as diligent as they have when it comes to keeping up with school.
I admit, I have a stack of papers to go through at least a foot high taking over the surface of my desk. And I haven't taught history to Richie in such a long time, that I don't remember when.
So I am determined to take this week to get all caught up. This way, when volleyball ends we will be able to start anew fresh.
This is what I love about homeschooling. We make the rules, and we are never really behind. We'll spend some extra time during the colder months really encountering history.
I think that for me it is really important to take some time every couple of months to evaluate where we are and where we need to go, that way I don't get so far off track that I can't find my way back again.

Plans Interrupted = A Good Thing
Well today is going to be a very productive day. Oh yes, I have some big plans for today.
We have no outside activities planned for today which is a really rare occurence in our house these days.
I plan on getting a fully productive day of school accomplished. Doing some baking. Banana bread, cookies, and apple crisp and in the plans.
Cleaning some areas of my house that are always last on the list.
Work on getting some paperwork organized.
And of course work on getting some bloggy stuff done that I've been putting off for a while now.
Today is one of those breezy fall days that shake the leaves from the trees. It is also a bit wet. So I am going to open my windows and light some candles, and just enjoy a perfect fall day at home with my family.

Determined To Drive
Kalene has kindly reminded me that it is about that time that she start taking driver's training. I do not think I am ready for that just yet.
But I know that it cannot be avoided forever, so I should start looking into it for her.
Things have changed so much since I took driver's training.
Maybe I should have her spend some time this year learning about a car. All the maintenance that is involved.
Just the different components involved in the power steering like the steering box and steering rack. Maybe learning about these different car parts will deter her from wanting to take driver's training.
What do you think?
I know, it won't.
I think most kids are determined to learn to drive. It's just like talking , you can't keep it from happening.
Oh well I'll just have to let her grow up.
Slowing....
Today is Kalene's last soccer game!
It has been a really fun season. She has an awesome coach and a great team. And although it will be sad to see it end, I have to say I am so looking forward to crossing off a to do from my list until spring when it will start all over again.
Just knowing that today is the final soccer game gives me hope that all too soon things will settle into fall.
I love fall for it's early nights and long days at home!
The trees are changing colors and I have to remind myself to slow down long enough to enjoy their beauty because it will be gone before I know it.

Walking Billboards
This is the craziest advertising campaign I have ever seen in my life!
Air New Zealand is getting really radical with their new ad campaign. They are holding an open casting call for anyone who is crazy enough to be a part of the craziest ad campaign ever in my opinion.
What they are planning on doing is finding 30 adults who are willing to shave their heads bald. That would be crazy all by itself to me. But that is not all! Once they have had their heads shaved bald, then they are going to tattoo different advertising slogans on the back of their bald heads!
Then once they have their brand new bald tattooed heads all ready to go, they are going to have them walk around Los Angelos.
They will actually be real walking billboards advertising a life changing experience.
If you are curious to know more about this you can go to the website www.airnewzealand.com and read all about exactly what it is they are trying to accomplish with this life changing campaign.
So tell me, would you give your head to be a billboard? I think this guy would make a great billboard, his head is ready to go.
BFS Assignment #104
So I seem to have missed the last assignment altogether.
Hoping to get back into it now.
Check out my classmates assignments here.
"What is the one thing you won't leave home without?"
I will admit that when I leave the house I am known to take a lot of extra stuff with me.
Besides my purse I also have a couple of other bags that I regularly carry.
I have a tote bag that is usually filled with teachers books, grocery papers, unchecked schoolwork, whatever book I'm reading, ect.
Then I also bring my laptop bag for those unexpected downtimes between classes, games, and practices. I am able to get some of my best writing material done during these times.
I like to bring snacks and drinks, especially if I know I'll be gone for a large part of the day.
I have had some pretty busy days lately. So if I have ANY down time whatsoever I want to be prepared to take advantage of it.

Do You Infrared Sauna?
A little over a year ago we decided to just go ahead and purchase a membership to our local recreation center's gym for the whole family.
It has been a lot of fun and a great way to incorporate some kind of physical activity into our homeschool.
One thing that I did not expect is just how much I enjoy using the Infrared Saunas.
I feel so good physically after I have been in one of the not so far infrared saunas at our rec. center.
I had heard conflicting reports about the benefits of the Infrared Sauna so I decided to check it out for myself.
Here is a small list of some of the benefits:
Pain Relief
Arthritis
Weight Loss (burn up to 900 cal. in a 30 min. session
Joint Stiffness
Detoxification of the Body
Skin (clogged pores, poor skin tone, acne, & more)
Eczema
Sore Throat
All I know for sure is that I feel great after spending a small amount of time in the sauna.

Homeschool Freebie ~ October Writing Prompts
Writing seems to be the one area that we lack in at my house as far as homeschooling goes.
I know that I am not alone in this. I've heard ithat this is a common problem among homeschoolers.
Ginny puts together the greatest writing prompts. And she makes them available for anyone to use.
She has just updated her month of October writing prompts.
These make my job as a homeschooler so much easier because she has already done the work for me. You can access her writing prompts here.
And don't forget to leave her a comment to thank her for offering this homeschool help for free.
